Change management is undoubtedly very challenging, not least because there are so many reasons for change. This also means that there can be different approaches to learning how to deal with it. So it is not surprising if you find yourself confused or daunted.
 
On one hand you could take a formal, academic approach. This would involve learning about change from the social sciences (industrial or social psychology, management sciences etc.) perspective.

On the other hand you could approach learning about change from a practitioner perspective; focussing on process, structure, timing and integration with other key management technology (ERP, project management etc.).

Of course each approach has it merits. That is why we do not believe they should be mutually exclusive.
